Charity Knitting

In November, there was a post on some forum boards I visit on Hyenacart from another WAHM there who's friend had lost her children in a fire one tragic evening. There was a call for support to raise funds to send to help ease some of the burden. Our hearts broke hearing of this aweful story, and while there is no way that anything any of us did could help much, we wanted to do something.


Anyhow, I auctioned off a custom wool set, with the deal being the more you big the more I would knit or crochet. The generous woman who won this set, bid $200+ and requested longies, a sweater, and a hat for her newborn due in January as well as a pair of longies for her toddler son. I love how the set turned out, and hope it was put to lots of good use.


This set will hold a place in my heart for all time, as when I think of it, I will think a small prayer for the children taken and for their parents left behind.

Newborn Soaker... AAAAWWEEE

Goldfish Longies

These longies were quite the treat to knit. Another WONDERFUL colorway from Nurturing Threads... and on one of my faves, Blackberry Ridge Merino. The momma who ordered these needed longies for her tall toddler boy, but I only had 1 skein of the colorway available. So, I used a blue semi-solid 1-ply purewool for trim and striping on the legs. I love how they turned out.




When nearly complete, the mom also asked me to add cargo pockets, so off I went to do those... also in the blue trim color. When I finished, something was missing... so I added a little golfish to the leg cuff and then the longies were complete.




I do wish before mailing off, I'd taken better/daylight pictures.
