Dewdrop Mini-Scarf

The perfect use for the single skein of luxury sock yarn!




I knit mine using a 50 gm ball of Plumknit Yarn Supply Wool/Cashmere fingering weight. (220 yds) A fun little knit, and as small and light as it is, this scarf positively radiates warmth! It's the first time I've used yarn with Cashmere in it, so did not know that it really is true that Cashmere is much warmer than wool! And SO SOFT! YUMMY!




I may try a heavier weight or bigger skein of a solid yarn soon, as I know the stitch pattern would look great knit up on a solid or semi-solid instead of a variegated yarn.

Finished Scarf Dimensions: 5 1/2" x 38 1/2"
Yarn: Plumknit Yarn Supply Wool/Cashmere (80/20) Fingering - 50gm: 220 yds (1 skein)
Needle Size: US 8




Cast-on 35 stitches.


Work 4 rows of Garter Stitch.




Switch to stitch pattern (taken from Vogue Knitting's Encyclopedia of Knitting):


Row 1: K4, *p3, k3* repeat* 3 times, P3, K4
Row 2: K2, P2 *K3, P3* repeat* 3 times, K3, P2, K2
Row 3: K4, *p3, k3* repeat* 3 times, P3, K4
Row 4: K4, *YO, Slip 1, K2tog, psso, YO, K3* repeat* 3 times, YO, Slip 1, K2tog, psso, YO, K4
Row 5: K2, P2 *K3, P3* repeat* 3 times, K3, P2, K2
Row 6: K4, *p3, k3* repeat* 3 times, P3, K4
Row 7: K2, P2 *K3, P3* repeat* 3 times, K3, P2, K2

Repeat rows 1-8 until scarf reaches 37 1/2" (or you have about 3 yards of yarn left), ending with a row 2 or a row 7. Knit 4 rows of Garger Stitch and Bind-off loosely. Weave in your ends.

Doodle Jewels for Customer

These were a YYMN custom knit for a very sweet customer. I've loved working with her each time and I hope the shorties are well loved.



The yarn is Gaia Oranic Merino dyed by Midnight Spectrum in her Doodle Jewels colorway. They were a treat to knit up, and I get to start knitting another pair for the same customer today or tomorrow. YAY!!!!

Coney Island

Ella got another flippy skirt! I tried a new method for the waist band this time, and still didn't have the success I would like. I'm going to try another couple of times and then hope to have a pattern out to testers by mid-June.



Ella's loving her skirty though! So from that aspect, it was a success.



The yarn is KP Felici in Coney Island... double stranded.

It's official.....

No pictures for this post. But, I couldn't not say something. I published a pattern on Tuesday. So, it's official... I'm CRAZY!


WOW... publishing a pattern is much more work than I ever could have imagined. Sure, designing is one thing. I've designed all of my woolie patterns I knit from for my store. But, taking my chicken scratch and writing it down so others can get predictable results... well, that is another thing entirely!


Thanks to all of the testers, my friends Cece and Margaret for final editing, and most of all to Lea for inspiring and encouraging me to write this pattern, "as people will want to buy and knit it." Thank you so so much!

After I get the support forum ironed out and a few instructional videos for techniques used in the pattern done, it will be on to the next pattern. I hope to publish Ella's Flippy Skirt next, then my Soaker Sack and Freckle Pants patterns by the end of the summer.

What Dreams May Come

Jackie may end up getting this soaker, as I'm not sure how long I'll be able to let it sit in-stock on my store. Knit from Gaia Oranic Merino Dyed by me in the What Dreams May Come colorway, trimmed in medium blue semi solid Targhee dyed by me. I knit this up using my Freckle Soaker pattern and added a crochet lace trim. It's a perfect fit for Jackie and I love how the colorway worked up.

Whispy Blue Sky Clouds

These Newborn longies were knit for Melissa/Shyla's new baby boy due late this summer. The yarn is Sweet Grass Wool's Targhee hand dyed by my in a semi-solid baby blue. Trimmed in natural Targhee. To me, knit up, the semi solid, with the cream trim reminded me of a blue summer sky with bits of whispy clouds floating through the air. I did my first seed stitch baby hat too. Nothing earth shattering, just the first time not doing a rolled brim or ribbed hat. I love how the seed stitch brim on the hat matches the cuffs of the longies.


I hope Melissa loves this one! It was her 3rd newborn set, and is in a close race with the Bananafish set as being my favorite!

Bananafish Booties

For Melissa.... What can I say... these were booties knit from the leftover yarn from her longies. Nearly every yard was used up, and they made my ovaries hurt. I hope they work well for her babe when he's born in July.

Granny Smith Skirty

This was knit for the winner of a Charity Auction for Andrea's walk for Cystic Fibrosis. The yarn was donated by Kim of Montana's Diaperstore and I knit it up. YUMMY Stallion Merino from Dashing Dachs in her GrannySmith colorway for the skirty, and Undyed Gaia Merino (the same as Stallion) for the undersoaker.


The winner's daughter had the same measurements as Jackie, so it was VERY VERY hard to mail this one out. I think it might be my favorite skirty I've knit to date.

Field of Tulips

I finally finished this soaker for a collaboration with Kate from Dressing West. It was listed as a "more details soon" listing for about month until I finally got the specifics in about a week ago. The yarn is Cestari Fine Merino, dyed by me. SO much fun to dye and knit with your own yarn. I love Kate's little dress and I hope the set sells soon, or I'll be forced to "buy" it for Jackie, and she doesn't need any more clothes!

Blues Shorties

These were the final installment of another Wool Stash Subscription. Yummy BFL from Lizzie's Wonderland. These were a treat to knit and I think my favorite of the 4 pieces I got to knit for this mom. I hope she is loving them as much as I enjoyed knitting them. And, my hats off to Lizet for the beautiful colorway!

Galooboy Blue Shorties

These were the final installment of a Playground Stash for a delight of a customer. I struggled not to add a Peace Sign or some such to the bum. But, all the other pairs in the stash were girly, and she'd mentioned picking the black and blue colors for her final pairs to possibly have GN woolies for future babes, in case there were any boys in the future. So, I help back and did not email for permission.



At any rate, the color worked up beautifully, like all Peace Fleece. This shade was a bit more flat than some of their others, but it works well with the color.

A new use for Sock Yarn

I double stranded Knit Picks Felici in the Patina Colorway for this skirt for my 3T daughter. I added a bit of a flare/ruffle to the edge. I'm hoping that the nylon content and the 2x2 rib for 2 1/2" will keep the skirt's waist band fitted enough to avoid needing a drawstring or having to figure out a way to install elastic. So far, she's been wearing it an hour or so, and it seems like it might be fine.




I do think if I do another one, I'll probably knit bottom up, as I think a sturdier bind-off edge at the top of the waist would help in keeping the skirt up better than a stretchy long-tail cast-on edge.




This was such a fun knit, and the skirt will be machine washable, which is good.




I do think making a modified version of my skirty might be better, as the undersoaker would serve as spanks for her so I wouldn't need to worry about her flashing her panties whenever she wears a skirt.... however, just doing a skirt used less yarn and was a quicker knit, so I do see a couple more of these in my knitting future for my duaghters spring/summer wardrobe!

Grass Roots Knit Shorties

Knit for a momma on one of the cloth-diapering forums I'm on. She chose Grass Roots Peace Fleece as a sturdy/bulletproof/amazingly beautiful colorway for her son's outdoor play this spring and summer. I hope she loves them once they arrive!

Crocodile/Snappy Dresser Set

I just completed this set as a custom order. The customer sent me the link to this Gymboree line and wanted to have stripes in the light blue, cream, and green. After talking through stripes, she decided she would prefer light blue tipped, cream waist and cuffs, and green body, rather than traditional stripes. This worked out perfectly in order for me to keep my fluffly shaping in the bum.




I dyed Targhee yarns for the project, needing to dye the blue twice, as it came out too dark the first time. This batch of Targhee was AMAZING! Much softer than my previous batch. I am so in love with it!!!!




Whan I was working the shorties, it popped into my mind, that an embroidered croc to match the line, on the bum, would be a cute addition to the shorties. So, I asked Sarah if I could add a surprise to the shorties and she said yes... WHOOT!




Anyhow, I loved working this set, and hope that it is well loved when it arrives to it's new home.

Maypole Shorties w/ Tree Town Batick Shirt

I bought this yarn and this shirt a year ago. It was meant to be knit up in the grand opening of my store. But, I got filled up with customs more quickly than I though and have been having to steel moments of time since then anytime I want to knit in-stock or something for my girls. A very good problem to have, Thanks to my wonderful customers!




Anyhow, although it was meant to be part of my grand opening, I always wanted to keep the set for Jackie, and I finally started knitting these shorties a month or 2 ago. I'd hoped to stock the set at the grand opening of TLC (if I didn't keep for Jackie,) but didn't get them finished in time.




The yarn is Maypole on Bliss Aran from Zenstring, and I am LOVING this set. It fits Jackie almost perfectly (by design) but has a tad higher rise than I would normally do for her. So, I was left to decide... keep for Jackie or list for sale on my store Monday or Tuesday. I decided I couldn't wait to list until Monday or Tuesday, as if it didn't sell right away, I might want Jackie to WEAR it on Monday or Tuesday. So, I went ahead and listed on my store this morning. And, guess what?! It just sold. I'm excited to see that it will be going to a good home, but on the other hand a bit sad to see it go as it would be SO SO SO cute on Jackie.




I do need to get some better/daylight pics and a better close-up of the cuff before mailing on Monday, but you can get the idea...

Preemie Surprise Jackets and Hats

A co-worker of my mom's, who has suffered from infertility for years, decided over a year or 2 ago to adopt a little girl from China. All the paperwork completed several months ago, she and her hubby were in their long wait for their little girl.... when about 2-3 months ago they were approached by a friend who had a friend/acquaintance who was expecting twin boys, and was planning on putting them up for adoption. So after a couple of weeks of soul searching (and making sure it would not affect their adoption of their little girl in 12-18 months) they decided they would adopt these boys as well, as it seemed meant to be!!!!

The boys were born nearly 3 weeks ago (I believe at 33-34 weeks.) They are still in the hospital with some feeding issues, but other than that are doing well, and my mom's co-worker is such a wonderfully happy new mom!!!! :<3: :<3:

Anyhow, I knit up little hats and sweaters for the boys. I'm sure they sweaters won't fit long, as the boys will grow quickly.. but spring is almost over anyhow, so hopefully, they will at least get a chance to wear them a time or two before they are too small and/or it's too hot!

Shyla's Newborn Sets- Bananafish and Rhiannon

These are 2 sets knit for a very sweet customer of mine. The Green pair is Rhiannon on Lindon from 3IG that I had in my stash. The yellow/cream/tan/blue pair is Bananafish from Beemer Knits on Jewel Merino that Melissa mailed to me to knit up for her. I'm not sure what base yarn the Jewel Merino is, but it was a delight to work with. I'll still be knitting matching booties for the Bananafish pair to go along with another package, as Melissa's ordered one more little set to be knit up in cream and light blue Targhee.

The first installment in a Playground Wool Stash Set. I'm so excited about these sets that I've concocted for my store, and these longies are so much more beautiful in real life than on the computer screen. Peace Fleece might not be the softest to knit with, but it sure has some stunning colors.

Girly Itty Bitty
