Jackie's New Capris!

I got this yarn (Selah's "Claire" colorway on Corriedale) because the colorway looked like it would match perfectly with a top I loved of Jackie's last summer. It was such a cute little top and I really loved it. It was from the Gymboree line Sweet Nothings, or Sweet Pea. So, these will forever be known as Jackie's Sweet Pea capris. And next summer they will be her Sweet Pea shorties....


The Corriedale yarn was nice to work with. It was light and almost cottony. Quite FABULOUS actually. Not as soft as BFL or Merino, but much more airy. It did split a little, but not too bad. I now have another yarn I like to work with for woolies, for certain.


I did a ruffle cuff using the 1x1 wide rib ruffle from Knitting on the Edge by Nicky Epstein. The ruffle for Jackie's skirty a while back was from her book also. I LOVE that book! I'll be trying more ruffles and various edges in the future.

Sweeties Soaker

Have to say YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY for some more of Lizzie's Wonderland Yarn. Here's a soaker crocheted for the same momma who got the Mystica Longies. This BFL is great to work with!!!!!! And her dye-ing is FABULOUS! The colors are totally set! I have yet to work with a HPY that did not run a bit on the first wash or 2. I washed these up for the momma before sending them, and they did not run AT ALL!!! I'm so pleased! They're trimmed with KnitPicks Merino Syle and I did a lace trim for the cuff.

On the what else is in the works front... not a lot has changed since my last post. I'm in the process of binding off a pair of capris in "Claire" Corriedale by Selah for Jackie. On the waist band of a pair of shorties or capris in "Secret Garden" Blackberry Ridge Merino by WWBN for Ella. Am starting a pair of crocheted "Loren's Coral" Peace Fleece longies for a DS momma this afternoon. Will be casting on at least 2 items for my Hyena Cart openingin May in the next day or so. Also, will be finishing up a pair of shorties for my HC opening in the next day or so... am 1/2 row from splitting for the legs on them. AND....... my WWBN BFL order should be here in a few days. I will have customs in Blue Clouds and Secret Garden to work up right away when that yarn arrives!!!!!!! YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!!!!

My logo for my HC should be complete in another day or 2, so once I get that, I'll be finishing up the set-up and starting to list items. I plan to "open for business" on May 14, 15 or 16. I am SO SO EXCITED!!!! I plan to stock 6 top/bottom sets, 1-2 pair of shorts by themselves, and a custom slot or 2. I may throw in a lottery for a discount coupon or freebie too!

The post office is killing me!

OK, so I mailed both of the customs in my previous post on Tuesday. According to the postal service website, they've not delivered yet. I know there's still hope for today, but I'm SO IMPATIENT! Usually, First Class takes 2 days only. Wonder if it has anything to do with Tax Day Monday? Our main building here in town had a bomb threat on Monday too, so that could have something to do with it. But, I'm dying here to know how the momma's like them!

OK, I'm done now. I'll go sulk on my own!

A couple of customs....

I've been trying to get in here to update with some new pics of recent customs for a couple of days, and just haven't seemed to be able to get on. Well, here they are now.

The green/yellow/blue item is a pair of newborn longies knit from Wooly Wonders by Nada Blackberry Ridge Merino in their Buttercup colorway. I LOVED knitting them. The colors were so yummy and BBR is one of my faves to knit with anyway. The springy sponginess is just heaven to my fingertips!

The pink/black/grey item is a pair of Large Ladybugz longgies knit from Lizzie's Wonderland Bluefaced Leicester in her Mystica colorway. I was very pleased with this yarn as well. Some BFL is not as soft as other BFL, and this was soft like WWBN and Zenstring's BFL. So much FUN!!!

Now, I'm working on another custom Ladybugz item with another colorway of Lizet's, and some BBR shorties for Ella, some Corriedale capris for Jackie, and several items for instock. OH, and I forgot to mention, I've finally started a pair of socks! I'm about 3 inches into them. I'm using Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock yarn, and it's been kind of fun after getting past the first 5-10 rounds.

Ready..... Set...... Go Hyena!

Well, I've officially done it! I set up a Hyena Cart store. It is still under construction, so nothing to look at yet, but I should have my Grand Opening early to mid May if all goes well. An IRL friend of mine is working up a logo for me as we speak, and I am working up some instock amidst my custom work and work for the girls. I'm pretty stoked!!!!!

Yesterday, I worked up a couple of swatches to send off to a wonderfully generous Hyena mom who has agreed to help me out with my grand opening by doing 3 collaberations with me. I'm so excited as she does my FAVORITE stuff!!!! WHOOT! These should be GREAT!

The yarn swatches are:

"Lion Cub" on Stallion Merino (a heavy worsted/bulky) Organic yarn from Dashing Dachs.

"Mystica" (the pink, gray, black colorway) on Aran BFL from Lizzie's Wonderland.

"Flamingo Jerky" (the pink, blue, purple colorway) on Aran BFL from Uberknits. This swatch also has Wool of the Andes swatched up with it as I was trying out trim colors. I think I'll go with the rose color (Mulled Wine)

I do need to get a bit better at my photography skills to work on getting the true colors to come through to the screen. I am working on it!

Peppermint Soaker Pair

I crocheted these 2 soakers for a momma on Hyena Cart. They are being mailed today. They are L/XL Ladybugz Peppermint Soakers crocheted in Peace Fleece. The yellow pair is Chickie Masla. It was SUCH a fun color to work with. I've realized that I am very visual in my enjoyment of knitting and crocheting. If I have a bright/warm color, I enjoy the project much more than working with a dark color. And Chickie Masla reminded me of a warm, sunshiney day each time I picked the item up!

The other pair is Blueberry Borscht. I'm afraid my night-time camera work did not pick up the true beauty of this color. They're trimmed in Peristroika Pink.

Both soakers should be nice sturdy and bulletproof soakers for the little girl who will wear them. I can only hope she and her momma enjoy them as much as I did.

Gus's shorties

Will be delivered to his momma tomorrow. I hope she loves them. She saw a pick and said she liked how they looked. So, I can't wait to see.

They were knit with Little Turtle Knit's Handpainted 3-ply Farm Yarn in the Elijah colorway. It feels like a nice sturdy yarn. I'm anxious to hear how it performs. I can definitely see using more of the yarn for longies for Jackie for the Fall... or maybe even shorties for this summer. When knitting it up, it felt as if it will be indestructible stuff.

I FROGGED!!!

I frogged my knitting basket. It just did not look right. I know it was going to be felted, but seriously looked wrong! I was double stranding WW yarn and the pattern called for single strand, so I don't know if that caused my problem or not. Anyhow, it just didn't look like there was any way in the world it was going to work out, so I pulled it all out. Now, I need to decide if I want to try it again with a single strand, or if I want something else done with the yarn. It was 100purewool in the Cruella colorway. It is a pretty red wine color.

Birthday Crochet

Here are the last 2 things I completed for Jackie's 1st Birthday. Both are using the Ladybugz Pattern. One is a pair of capris in Wool of the Andes Lake Ice Heather and the other is a pair of shorties/soakers in Moscow Magic Pink Peace Fleece trimmed in Latvian Lavendar.

I'm loving the capris especially. The color is beautiful, and they look so cute on Jackie!

From swatches to finished product!

These S/M shorties for a little guy custom were knit on size 6 needles using LTK 3-ply Farm yarn in the Woodland Fairy Colorway. The waist and cuffs are Wool of the Andes Firecracker Red.

The mom and I picked the cuff color after me swatching out a couple of different options. It turned out well, I think.

And, the little pocket is my first of "carpenter" style pockets. SO FUN!
